SRAM Chainring Upgrades

Aero, Narrow-Wide & Direct Mount

SRAM Chainrings from The Mechanic Parts

Get the most out of your SRAM AXS or mechanical groupset with chainrings from The Mechanic Parts. Whether you’re tackling the sand with a SRAM narrow-wide chainring on a Direct Mount crankset, or looking for aerodynamic gains with a SRAM aero chainring for your Force or Red power metre, we mill the exact upgrade you need. Discover our hand-crafted chainrings, optimised for the perfect chainline and flawless compatibility with Flattop chains.

SRAM Chainrings for Every Setup

The SRAM groupset is innovative, but it requires the right technical choices. We have developed specific chainrings for both 2x (double) and 1x (single) drivetrains.

SRAM Aero Chainring for Force & Red 12-Speed

Maximize your speed on the road with our solid SRAM aero chainring. This outer chainring is specially CNC-machined for seamless integration with SRAM Quarq Force and Red (AXS) powermeter spiders. It ensures precise shifting performance in 2x setups, is available in sizes from 46/33 to 54/41, and is fully compatible with 12-speed Flattop chains.

SRAM Narrow-Wide Chainring (8-Bolt, 0mm Offset)

The ultimate 1x upgrade for beach racers and cyclocross riders. This aerodynamic SRAM Narrow-Wide chainring with an 8-bolt Direct Mount interface and 0mm offset creates extra clearance at the rear triangle, allowing you to fit larger chainrings. The unique profile with mud-shedding gaps effortlessly clears dirt and keeps (Flattop) chains firmly in place.

SRAM Chainring for Mountain Bike (3-Bolt, 6mm Offset)

Are you looking for a strong 1x SRAM chainring for your non-boost mountain bike? This robust chainring with the traditional 3-bolt Direct Mount interface and 6mm offset ensures a flawless chainline. Thanks to the aggressive narrow-wide tooth profile, your chain stays more stable on the most technical descents.

The Technical Advantage of TMP

A SRAM chainring from The Mechanic Parts is not just a replacement part; it is CNC-machined custom work from solid aluminum. SRAM riders benefit from specific advantages:

  • Direct Mount Expertise: SRAM makes extensive use of Direct Mount chainrings without a spider (spiderless). By offering our chainrings in 3-bolt and 8-bolt versions, and with offsets of 0mm, 3mm, and 6mm, you can perfect the chainline for your specific frame.
  • The Flattop: The rollers of a SRAM 12-speed Flattop chain are larger than normal. Many aftermarket chainrings wear out extremely quickly or produce noise as a result. Our specific SRAM chainrings are precisely machined to the dimensions of this chain for a quiet ride. Note: only our 8-bolt chainrings are compatible with Flattop; 3-bolt chainrings are not standardly suitable.
  • Custom Gear Sizes: Are you a junior rider with gearing restrictions, or a powerhouse who needs a massive chainring for a time trial? Where major brands stop, we keep going. If your ideal size isn’t listed, contact us via WhatsApp to explore the possibilities!

Frequently Asked Questions about SRAM Chainrings

SRAM uses two types of Direct Mount (DM) mounts. Traditional cranks (and many mountain bike/gravel cranks) use a 3-bolt mounting system at the rear of the crank arm. The newer AXS power meters and specific Red/Force cranks use the updated 8-bolt connection. Remove your current spider or chainring to count how many bolts your crank uses, so you can choose the correct variant straight away.

The offset determines how far the chainring is positioned inwards or outwards relative to the crank. A 6 mm offset is often used on standard mountain bikes (Non-Boost), 3 mm for Boost frames, and 0 mm (flat) for BB30 cranks or to create extra clearance with wider chainstays during beach racing. The correct offset ensures the most efficient chainline.

No, this is not the case as standard. SRAM 12-speed Flattop chains have larger rollers than standard chains and require a specific tooth profile. Only our single chainrings for SRAM BCD107 and SRAM 8-BOLT DM are compatible with Flattop chains as standard. If you’re ordering a chainring for a different crankset but do use a Flattop chain, please state this clearly in the comments field at checkout. We’ll then mill the chainring to fit your chain perfectly!

No, all our SRAM chainrings with a narrow-wide profile are designed exclusively for 1x (single) drivetrains. The teeth grip the chain so tightly that shifting with a front derailleur is impossible. (Please note: our Force/Red 12-speed aero chainrings for 2x setups are, of course, designed for use with a front derailleur).

This depends heavily on your personal strength, the terrain, your tyre size and the type of rides you do. For gravel and cyclo-cross, many riders opt for a chainring between 38T and 44T. For beach races or road rides, this often ranges from 48T up to 64T. As this varies from rider to rider, we cannot determine which size you need for you. Take a good look at the gear ratio you currently use and adjust your choice accordingly.

Yes, in most cases this is certainly possible! As we design and mill all our chainrings in-house, we offer a truly bespoke service. Are you looking for a specific pitch that isn’t listed among our standard products? Please feel free to send us an email detailing your requirements and your crankset type, and we’ll look into how we can help you straight away.
