This handcrafted Shimano narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the perfect match for your GRX gravel groupset. It’s specifically designed to handle the challenges of unpaved terrain, from muddy paths to steep gravel roads.
The unique sharkteeth design with alternating narrow and wide teeth keeps your chain more stable on the ring, drastically reducing the chance of it falling off. This gravel narrow-wide chainring is suitable for 10-, 11-, and 12-speed systems and is available in various sizes, so you can always find the right setup for your gravel adventures.
This aerodynamic Rotor narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the perfect upgrade for those seeking maximum speeds. It is specifically designed for various Rotor cranks, including the Rotor Vegast, Aldhu 3D+, and the InSpider power meter. The sleek, smooth build fits seamlessly onto your crankset, minimizing air resistance and giving you an aerodynamic advantage.
The unique narrow-wide profile provides excellent chain retention, resulting in a reliable and silent drivetrain, even at the highest speeds. Whether you’re looking for the perfect time trial or road bike setup, this chainring will help you get the most out of your power.
This handcrafted Rotor narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the ideal upgrade for your road or gravel bike. The ring is specifically developed for various Rotor cranks, including the Rotor Vegast, Aldhu 3D+, and the InSpider power meter.
The unique narrow-wide profile with advanced mud cutouts provides superior chain retention and effortlessly sheds mud and sand. This guarantees a reliable, silent drivetrain under all conditions. It’s available in various sizes, from smaller sizes for young riders to larger sizes for true powerhouses.
This SRAM narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the perfect upgrade for your off-road bike. It is specifically developed for the SRAM 3-bolt direct mount interface and is available with a 0 mm, 3 mm, or 6 mm offset.
This offset is designed to correct the chainline, keeping the chain as straight as possible. This improves chain retention and reduces friction, resulting in a more efficient and reliable drivetrain. The narrow-wide sharktooth profile contributes by holding the chain firmly, even in the most challenging conditions. It’s available from 38 to 64 teeth!
This handcrafted SRAM narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the ideal upgrade for your road or cyclocross bike. The ring is specifically designed for the SRAM 8-bolt direct mount interface and features a solid, aerodynamic design.
The ring is the perfect choice for beach racing and cyclocross due to the 0mm, 3mm, or 6mm offset. This creates extra clearance at the chainstay to mount larger chainrings. This ensures optimal efficiency. The combination of the aerodynamic design and the unique narrow-wide profile guarantees unmatched chain retention and a silent, efficient drivetrain, even at high speeds.
This aerodynamic SRAM narrow-wide chainring from The Mechanic Parts is the ideal upgrade for your time trial bike, specifically designed for SRAM Force and SRAM Red cranksets. The solid design fits seamlessly onto your crank, minimizing air resistance and providing the maximum aerodynamic advantage.
The detailed narrow-wide profile provides excellent chain retention, ensuring your power is transferred optimally. This guarantees a reliable and silent drivetrain, even at the highest speeds. It’s compatible with a flattop chain and is available in various sizes, for young riders to true time trial powerhouses!
The term narrow-wide refers to the unique tooth profile of all 1x chainrings from The Mechanic Parts, which are specifically designed to hold the chain extra firmly. The teeth alternate between narrow and wide, allowing them to perfectly grab the inner and outer links of your chain.
The narrow-wide design offers several advantages. The chain is gripped much more firmly by the chainring due to the sharktooth design, which prevents the chain from moving sideways and jumping off the chainring. This allows you to rely on your equipment, even on the bumpiest roads or the most explosive sprints.
In addition, a narrow-wide chainring optimizes the way your power is transmitted. The tight fit ensures a more direct and efficient power transfer from your crankset to your rear wheel. This leads to less friction and a quieter drivetrain. Furthermore, this translates to a smoother cadence and less resistance.
Additionally, The Mechanic Parts’ narrow-wide chainrings are equipped with special mud cutouts between the teeth. These cutouts ensure that mud, sand, and other dirt are easily shed, which reduces wear on your chain and chainring. This significantly reduces the chance of mechanical failure for cyclocross racers, mountain bikers, and gravel riders.
No. Narrow-wide chainrings are specifically designed for a single-ring (1x) drivetrain. The unique sharktooth profile is not compatible with a front derailleur. The narrow-wide profile grabs the chain so firmly, it’s impossible to shift between multiple rings.
In most cases, no. A narrow-wide chainring, in combination with a rear derailleur with a clutch, already provides a very high degree of chain retention. However, our chain guide can provide extra security in extreme conditions, such as a very bumpy descent or an extremely rough mountain bike trail. This further reduces the chance of a mechanical failure.
No. All of our narrow-wide chainrings are made from 7075 T6 aluminum, which is the highest quality aluminum. You can further prevent wear by properly maintaining and regularly cleaning your bike, especially after muddy rides.
An aero narrow-wide chainring has a solid, full profile to minimize air resistance. It fits perfectly on the crank, which provides an aerodynamic advantage. A normal narrow-wide chainring, on the other hand, has a more open, lightweight design that is perfect for gravel, cyclocross, and mountain biking.
A normal chainring is slightly lighter than an aero chainring, but this difference is minimal due to the weight savings on the back of the aero chainring.
Yes, we also have oval chainrings! The oval design helps to overcome the “dead spots” in your pedal stroke, which can improve efficiency and comfort for many riders, especially on climbs. Our oval chainrings are not standard stock items, but we can always produce them. Please contact us via the contact form to arrange this.
